The first week in Guadalajara we walked and walked and walked.  Anything to find a place to eat (fairly easy), a place to live (slightly more difficult), or a place to work (fairly difficult).  Even at the end of our stay, I remembered certain streets and landmarks (like fish taco stands) from our early all day walks.  In the same way, the areas we missed that first week-really anything west of Plaza del Sol, I just never really got the hang of. 

When we arrived at the aiport in GDL, we called our hotel.  We were perfectly prepared: a place to stay for the first week or so, a pick up from the aiport, phew.  With the call, we were enlightened for the first of many times about the Mexican way of life.  Our hotel had no record of ever communicating with us, of course could not come to pick us up at the airport, and no, they had no vacancy.

Buuuut, they did know someone who had a hotel down the street.  Welcome to Mexico.
